Circle:

A child’s name is selected to assist the teacher with different activities during this time. This helps them learn to recognize their name in print and to promote
leadership roles.

  • Daily greeting
  • Calendar and weather (lets sing and learn about the days of the week,
    months of the year, weather and seasons)
  • Story time
  • Introduction to weekly theme (revisited in cognitive)
  • Show and tell
  • Letter of the week

Art & Sensory:

Daily teacher directed art activity, followed by:

  • Playdough, water table, sand table
  • Easel painting
  • Crayons, chalk board, scissors
  • Beading, lacing etc.


Cognitive:

The goal/objective is to provide as many creative activities and opportunities which promote letter, colours, shapes and number (associating numbers with values 1-10) recognition, as possible.

Activities such as:

  • Sound bags, felt stories, puppets, board games, books and songs are used to enhance learning experiences across a broad range of relevant topics.
